Major Marin Trailheads and Meeting Points

Miller & Locust: The bus stop in front of the 7-Eleven on Miller Avenue in Mill Valley (0.5 mile northwest of the intersection of Miller and Camino Alto). Hikers drive or carpool to hike trailheads.

Mill Valley Book Depot: In the square (next to the parking lot) by the bookstore-café now in the old railroad station in downtown Mill Valley at the north end of Miller Avenue. Some hikes start from here, others drive or carpool to hike trailheads.

Fairfax Parkade: The parking lot on Sir Francis Drake Blvd across from the Fairfax Theater. Limited to four hours on weekdays. Unlimited on weekends. Hikers drive or carpool to hike trailheads. Fee for entrance to the Marin Municipal Water District is $7 per car, or an annual pass for $25. .

Mountain Home: The parking area on Panoramic Hwy 2.5 miles north of Highway 1, across from the Mountain Home Inn. Additional parking available at the ranger residence 1/4 mile south and on access roads. Generally very limited parking on weekends.

Bootjack: The parking and picnic area on Panoramic Hwy 6 miles north of Highway 1. $5 fee.

Pan Toll: The parking area and ranger station 1/4 mile past Bootjack on Panoramic Hwy. $5 fee.

Rock Spring: The parking area at the junction of Pan Toll Rd and Ridgecrest Blvd. A large parking area, but generally crowded on weekends. Additional parking available at the dirt lot 1/2 mile east, adjacent to Mountain Theater. No bus service; carpool from Miller & Locust in Mill Valley.

San Anselmo: The bus stop on Center St (The Hub) in San Anselmo. Brief parking only. Hikers drive or carpool to hike trailheads.

Ross: The "Commons Park" over the bridge from Sir Francis Drake Blvd, on Lagunitas Rd.

Tennessee Valley Rd: 1/2 mile south of Tam Junction then three miles west at the end-of-the-road parking area (near the stables).

Muir Woods: The lower parking lot south of the entrance to Muir Woods National Monument. Parking severely limited after 10 am. Additional parking available on the roadside south. No bus service.

Spencer Avenue: Commuter parking area on Highway 101 in Sausalito at top of Waldo Grade. Weekend parking only, and a very limited space.

Blackie's Pasture: A public parking area and open space on Tiburon Blvd 1.6 mi from Hwy 101 toward the town of Tiburon. There is a life-sized statue of Blackie the horse visible from the road.

Major Point Reyes Trailheads

Bear Valley: West end of dirt parking area at Point Reyes National Seashore Visitors Center, 1/2 mile north of Olema.

Five Brooks: Five Brooks Stables, 3 miles south of Olema on Hwy 1.

McClures Beach: Parking area at end of Pierce Point Rd, past Inverness and Tomales Bay State Park.

Palomarin: Parking area 5 miles north of Bolinas at end of Mesa Rd (graveled last half mile).

Major East Bay Trailheads

Joaquin Miller Regional Park: The ranger station inside the entrance to the park, off Joaquin Miller Rd, east of Highway 13 in Oakland.

Mount Diablo State Park: South Side: at Juniper Campground 2 miles west of the summit; enter from Diablo Rd exit from Hwy 680. $5 fee. North side: Parking area at end of Mitchell Canyon Rd, 1.8 miles south of the junction with Clayton Rd. $5 fee. Regency Gate: the end of Regency Dr off Marsh Creek Rd in Clayton; street parking, no fee.

Briones Regional Park: Bear Creek entrance: 4.5 miles northeast of junction with San Pablo Dam Rd west of Orinda. Alhambra Valley entrance: off Reliez Valley Rd, 7.6 miles north of Pleasant Valley Rd, Lafayette. $5 fee.

Las Trampas Regional Park: Parking area at end of Bollinger Canyon Rd, 6.5 miles north of Crow Canyon Rd exit from Hwy 680 in San Ramon. Small, but no fee.

Redwood Regional Park: Skyline Gate on Skyline Blvd 0.4 miles south of junction with Shepherd Canyon Rd. Canyon Meadow parking area at end of Redwood Rd entrance off Hwy 13 in Oakland. $5 fee. Additional parking areas nearby.

Tilden Regional Park: Inspiration Point on Wildcat Canyon Rd 3.3 miles east of Spruce St in Berkeley. Roadside parking nearby.

Point Pinole Regional Park: On Giant Hwy, two miles north of junction with Brookside Rd in San Pablo. $5 fee on weekends, free on weekdays.
