Art Deco Oakland.
An urban walk emphasizing architecture and history of downtown Oakland. Moderate-to-leisurely pace, but walk takes all afternoon ending about 5:30 pm near the twelth street BART Station. Optional post-walk dinner at local restaurant. Rain cancels.
Meet: 11 am at 10th and Fallon entry to Oakland Museum next to nursing bear statue (one block from Lake Merritt BART). Very little all day parking available, so use of BART is recommended.
Bring: lunch (no good place to buy lunch); $1.50 for return to museum by BART; $ for optional post-hike dinner.

July 19 Sunday 1A canine hike
Point Pinole canine hike.
Join Linda, Randall, Frolic and Breeze on an easy loop, with Bay views and possible dog swim. Return to cars around 1 pm with no lunch stop, though there are sites for optional picnicking after the hike. Dogless people welcome.
Meet: 10 am at Point Pinole Regional Park parking lot.
Directions: take Richmond Parkway to Giant Highway and follow park signs.

South Berkeley paths and stairways.
A relaxed and very slow hike with several rest stops. Route includes pathways, stairways and architectural treasures in South Berkeley and North Oakland. Some steep climbs. Hike ends around 5:30 pm in time for optional dinner. No need to register, but rain cancels.
Meet: 11:45 am at Rockridge BART station north parking lot at bottom of down escalator.
Directions: BART to Rockridge station.
Bring: this is a city hike, but it is still necessary to bring lunch and liquids.
