4C and above hikes


Always bring lunch and water. Consider layered clothing, sunscreen and hiking poles.
Canine hikers should also bring leashes, litter bags, and water for their dogs.

Jun 1  Sun     4C hike
Five Brooks loop.  Hike from Five Brooks up and over Firtop Mountain down to the coast where we will have lunch and soak in the magnificent scenery. Head back to the trailhead over Inverness Ridge. Enjoy meadows, forests and ocean views on this strenuous hike. Total miles are around 16.5 and the pace is moderate to brisk. Jun 7  Sat     5E hike
Mount Tamalpais hikeathon.  31-mile hike through portions of GGNRA, Muir Woods, MMWD, and Mount Tamalpais. Beautiful views (assuming there's no fog) and over 6300 feet of cumulative elevation gain. Experienced long distance hikers only. No part-way hikers.  Bring: lunch, snacks, potluck dish to share at post-hike celebration (leaders will provide beverages). Bring jacket for possible wind. Bear Valley to Glen Camp.  Hike from Bear Valley up the Meadow trail out to Glen Camp and then out to the coast. Enjoy spectacular views of Drakes Bay, Point Resistance and Double Point. Work our way back to Bear Valley via the Sky and Old Pine trails. Enjoy a special tour of Point Reyes on this strenuous 16 mile hike. Jun 21  Sat     5D hike
5th Annual 22-mile longest-day hike at Point Reyes.  Celebrate the solstice by savoring the beaches, forests, and berries of Point Reyes on this moderately-paced (steady 2.7 mph) long loop (22 mi., 3500' elevation gain) that includes Arch Rock and Alamere Falls. Experienced hikers only - call leader if you have not hiked with him before. This hike commemorates the late Bruce Williams, who annually led a similar Solstice hike. Finish 7:30 pm, followed by post-hike libations at picnic area, and optional post-hike dinner at local cafe. Cosponsored with Sierra Singles.  Bring: 2 liters water [no potable water on trail], lunch, sturdy shoes, sun and wind protection. Meet: 8:45 am at Bear Valley Visitor's Center Picnic Area.
